| What is a League? |
| The term ‘league’ really means social club: one whose main activity is tenpin bowling, not necessarily its only activity – but its main one. Leagues bowl every week on the same day at the same time, so every member has a regular social occasion on their calendar. |
| As Tenpin Bowling is a registered sport it follows specific rules of play. Also, League administration is conducted by officers elected by the members, or by the Bowling Centre management and staff. Leagues follow established rules, and can add their own rules to suit the needs of the members. |
| A League organises its season so that every team (two, three, four or five players) plays every other team at least twice, according to a draw. In this manner, members get to know each other in the nicest possible way – by bowling together! |
| At the end of each season, trophies, prizes etc are handed out for a variety of awards to members, usually at a social evening. |
PLUS we offer FREE* Child Minding while you Bowl!
*Free Childminding is for current Ashmore League Bowlers and is available for selected league timeslots only* |
| |
And as your game improves (Ladies score of 125 or better, and Men's score of 200 or better) a league bowler becomes eligible for Award Pins, Awards and sometimes Cash Prizes. So you can pace yourself against the winners and improve your skill with competition.
|
League games are good value too, because when a bowler bowls three games in a team, it takes longer to bowl – up to three hours of interesting, participating activity for the cost of the games.
|
New members are always welcome in a League, after all – it means new friends for everybody! As all social leagues are handicapped, the lower a bowler’s average, the higher their handicap, so a team’s competitive chances are not affected by adopting a new member.
|
Don't be worried if your average game score is low at first - it will improve with practice. You will also be surprised to see how many of the regular league bowlers are there for the fun and social atmosphere and not just the scores.
There are league games to suit every age group and level of ability. |
